Shooting with magic instead of guns
Every weapon runs on mana, and mana runs out. Your wand fires endlessly but weakly; the good stuff, spellbooks, staves and alchemical devices, hits far harder and drains your reserves fast. Burn it all on one room and you might regret it in the next. Each weapon has two firing modes, usually a quick primary and a heavier secondary that sprays more projectiles in a wider spread. You carry a wand, a spellbook, a staff and an alchemy device at once, so swapping between them mid-fight is the whole rhythm of combat. It plays like a classic shooter that happens to cast instead of shoot: instant projectiles, fast movement, plenty of jumping and strafing while a room full of monsters tries to corner you.
Runs that never repeat
Every descent is a new labyrinth, generated fresh each time, across five floors that each end with a boss. Find the key, summon the floor's guardian, kill it, move down. Treasure, traps and danger rooms hide along the way, and the weapons you find are random too: one run hands you a great staff early, the next leaves you limping along on the starter wand. Perks come as simple either-or choices rather than number fiddling: more speed for less health, mana regeneration, a bigger drop rate, or ammo right now. Death is permanent and you carry nothing over, but every run, win or lose, unlocks new characters, weapons, perks and lore for future attempts. There is also a daily challenge with a fixed setup and a leaderboard, if you want to compare wand skills with everyone else playing that day.
