Long-range fights on your terms
You glass the treeline with motion-sensing binoculars, lock onto distant figures, then decide how to close the distance. The view stretches up to 800 metres, so sniping across a beach feels different from pushing into close-quarters firefights.
Missions allow several approaches, and the varied arsenal backs that up. Shooting feels satisfying.
Mercenaries that fight back together
These mercenaries use adaptive group tactics. You meet several specialist types at once, so attacks come from more than one direction, and commanders can pull in backup by whatever route reaches you.
The trade-off is that enemies can seem to see or shoot you through cover, which matters most when you try to stay hidden. Plan for a fight that keeps shifting rather than a clean stealth run. The enemy AI divides players: some praise it as tactical, while others call it unfairly aggressive.
A tropical island with a job gone wrong
You are Jack Carver, a freelance mariner whose boat is destroyed by militia artillery on arrival. Valerie, the reporter he brought here, goes missing, so he pushes into the jungle, learns the mercenaries' true intentions from an insider, and faces a choice between fighting them or condemning humanity to a maniac's agenda.
The islands look beautiful, with a praised atmosphere and music to match. The graphics look good for their age. The story divides players: some find it weak or generic, others find it engaging.
A hard run with wheels and checkpoints
You drive cars, buggies and boats. Saves land at checkpoints rather than on demand.
The campaign takes about 13 to 25 hours, and the game is difficult. That difficulty is why it suits players who want a hard challenge.
What else should you know?
How open are the missions?
Missions can be approached in several ways. You pick an attack style, from long-range sniping to close-quarters firefights, then use the islands and the lock-on binoculars to set up your angle.
Who are you fighting?
Mercenaries trained in group tactics, including snipers, stalkers, scouts and grenadiers. Commanders add pressure by bringing in extra troops from land, water and the sky.
What starts the story?
Jack Carver ferries reporter Valerie to the island, his boat is destroyed by militia artillery, and she goes missing. An insider later reveals what the mercenaries really plan, forcing a hard choice.
