A world war fought with the strangest army ever fielded
This is alternate history where the technology went sideways. The Soviets roll out Tesla coils, armored War Bears and Kirov blimps. The Allies bring teleportation, attack dogs and Tanya. The Empire of the Rising Sun fields transforming tanks, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses and units inspired by anime and robot culture. You gather resources, build a base and throw these unreasonable weapons at each other, and somehow the chaos holds together. One battle you wage a careful three-pronged attack from land, sea and air; the next you just build a very large army and see how far it gets. Both work more often than they should.
War on the water matters as much as war on land
For the first time in the series, the sea is a full battlefield, not scenery. You fight for control of ocean resources, build bases on the water and mount attacks from three directions at once, so a coastline is never safe. The Empire specializes in naval warfare, which makes them a very different opponent from the Soviets or the Allies. It changes how you think about a map: the route to victory may run across the waves, and an enemy fleet behind your base is a real problem, not a detail.
