Turns, terrain and terrible decisions
Two or more teams of worms take turns blowing each other up across fully destructible landscapes. Every shot counts: the wind pushes your bazooka shell off course, a misplaced explosion opens a crater that swallows your own worm, and the round ends when only one team is left standing. The rules take a minute to explain, but winning takes planning, aim and a bit of luck. One moment you are nudging a grenade along a ledge, the next the whole hillside is gone and your last worm is clinging to a girder over open water. Losses sting, wins feel earned, and every match ends with someone demanding a rematch.
An arsenal of 47 ways to lose a friend
The weapon list mixes old favourites with new nonsense. The classics are all here: the Holy Hand Grenade, the Concrete Donkey, napalm strikes and Armageddon itself. Newcomers include sentry guns, electromagnets, ferrets, poison strikes and the Buffalo of Lies, plus persistent fire and surprise Easter Eggs hidden in the terrain. Utilities like jetpacks, ropes and girders turn movement into its own skill, and the ninja rope in particular rewards the kind of daring swings that usually end in a splash. With wind, gravity and destructible ground in play, no two shots play out the same way.
Solo missions when nobody is around
There is a full single-player side: 35 campaign missions, plus 30 more in the Warzone Campaign tuned for advanced players. Bodycount mode drops a single worm against endless, increasingly tough reinforcements, with a leaderboard to compare scores against friends. Training mode walks you through three tutorials and three firing ranges before you face anything nastier. The AI comes with seven personality types, from easy to very hard, with styles like vengeful, cocky and Darksider, so even a quiet evening alone turns into a proper grudge match.
Build your own battlefield
The landscape editor lets you draw your own maps, with bridges back in the mix and vertical landscapes that carry the fight upwards. Set your own start positions, drop in mines, pick a scheme, and share the result with friends to play online. The scheme editor goes further: change every rule of the game, add random objects like sentry guns and electromagnets, throw in a fire hazard, and invent a mode nobody has played before. With 13 HD graphical themes generating millions of random levels on top of that, you can keep making up new ways to fight for as long as you like.
