An AI in borrowed flesh
You play R.E.A.C.H., an artificial intelligence trapped in the body of its own creator, in a timeline where everything that could go wrong did. The Phoenix Corporation built you, and now you walk through the consequences of its work: a city where body parts are traded like currency and humanity withers with every transplanted organ. Every character you meet and every corporate agenda you expose asks the same thing: what actually defines us as human? The story carries you through gray morality, unexpected twists and raw emotion, and it does not hand you easy answers. You find your own among the Disposals, the outcasts of Phoenix-City.
A world worth staring at
This is pixel art pushed somewhere new: crisp 2D characters moving through 3D environments with depth of field, dynamic lighting and cinematic effects layered on top. The result looks like a living painting of a broken future, from decaying suburbs and neon-lit alleys to underground complexes and secret laboratories, out to the slums where the American Dream failed. The game knows when to stop and let you soak in a scene. An original synth-driven score runs underneath it all, quiet when it should be, swelling at the right moments, and the sound design fills in the rest: rain, gunfire, the hum of a city that has seen better decades.
Fighting through Phoenix-City
Survival takes more than answers. This is not sport fighting; it is messy, atmospheric violence in service of the story. Fair warning: the controls lean deliberate rather than twitchy, and some players find the platforming and pacing sluggish in stretches. Come for the world and the story more than for tight arcade reflexes.
What kind of game is it, exactly?
What kind of game is REPLACED, exactly?
A cinematic side-scrolling action-adventure. It blends exploration, platforming and brutal combat with a heavy focus on story, staged like a film you control, all rendered in a 2.5D pixel art style where 2D characters move through 3D environments.
Do you need to be good at action games to play it?
No. The combat is about impact and atmosphere more than pure skill, and the story carries the game. If you mainly want the narrative and the world, the action sections stay manageable, though the deliberate movement takes some getting used to.
Can you play it solo?
Yes, it is a singleplayer game from start to finish. The whole experience is built around one story: yours, as R.E.A.C.H., from the first waking moment to the confrontation with the Phoenix Corporation.
