Blast pink hordes with friends
This is a top-down twin-stick shooter built for a four-person squad. You drop into beat-up towns and outposts, take jobs from the survivors holed up there, and clear nests, escort people, and smash harvesters while pink blobs pour in from every side. Solo is allowed if you are feeling brave, but the whole thing sings with friends reviving each other and stacking firepower.
You carry loud toys for loud problems: miniguns, flamethrowers, rocket launchers, plus grenades, mines, barbed wire, and machine-gun turrets to shape the fight. The look stays bright and cartoonish against the grey ruins, and the tone never takes the end of the world too seriously.
Build a squad and a loadout
The roster has specialists for attack, defense, and support, each with their own weapons and a unique ability. One of you holds the line, one of you sets everything on fire, and someone pretends they were going to share the good loot all along.
Tokens unlock weapons, items, and perks, and experience levels your character up. Perks can be swapped freely, even between squadmates, so you can rethink a bad plan mid-invasion. Scavenge ammo and gear as you go, since some alien variants shrug off certain damage types and reward a mixed arsenal.
Story runs and Resistance waves
The campaign strings missions across large connected maps: grab a job, follow the waypoint, expect an ambush on the way, cause some light property damage while saving the day. You have full permission to wreck everything, and frankly the place was already a mess.
Resistance is the horde mode: hold unique locations, finish objectives, and survive waves that keep getting meaner. It has its own progression with unlocks and 26 ranks to chase, plus extraction for hard-earned experience. Short on time or patience for backtracking, start here for tight, punchy runs.
Good to know before you squad up?
Can you play it solo?
Yes. The campaign and horde mode both run solo with AI companions, and the store even notes this takes some bravery. It is plainly better balanced and more fun with two to four humans, so treat solo as the warm-up act.
How does progression work?
You earn tokens and experience from missions and extractions. Resistance mode adds its own unlock track with 26 ranks.
What do you actually do moment to moment?
Take a mission, push through alien packs to the objective, plant turrets and wire, throw grenades, swap weapons when a variant resists your current one, grab the loot, and get out. Expect escort runs, deliveries, nest clearings, and harvester smashing, with plenty of explosions in between.
Is it hard to learn?
No. Aim with one stick, move with the other, and let the arsenal do the talking. The depth comes from team mix, consumables like traps and fences, and matching damage types to enemies, not from fiddly systems.
