Wanted dead in the neon sprawl of Harbor Prime, you run, talk, sneak and shoot your way toward the people trying to erase you. Dex is a 2D side-scrolling cyberpunk action RPG where you build a hacker, diplomat, assassin or gunfighter and crack open Cyberspace itself to turn the city's machines against it.
Is Dex worth it?
Dex is worth it if…
- you like 2D cyberpunk with neon streets, clubs and corporate secrets
- you like building one character several ways: stealth, hacking, talk or guns
- you like side quests, exploration and voice-acted street talk

Harbor Prime and how you survive it
You move through Harbor Prime on foot, jumping ledges, slipping past patrols, picking fights or talking your way out of them. The story is mature cyberpunk business: a far-reaching organization, unexpected allies, corporations, hackers and a rogue AI.
You shape Dex with skills, gear and implants that grant superhuman abilities and open new paths through the open world. Quests and loot feed that growth, and side jobs reward poking around. Combat stays at your pace, mixing fists, feet and a small arsenal of guns with stealth takedowns from behind. It can feel stiff early on, which matters more if you came for slick platforming.
Hacking, talking and choosing your way in
You can play it loud, quiet, charming or technical. Build for silent takedowns, for straight gunfire, for persuasion in branching dialogues, or for hacking that stuns enemies and hijacks their turrets.
The hacking layer is its own game. You enter Cyberspace, dodge viruses and intrusion countermeasures, then deactivate turrets, overload devices, steal corporate data and cripple enemies from the inside. Hand-drawn pixel art and a fitting soundtrack carry the streets, alleys and clubs, and full voice acting gives even minor contacts a distinct edge. The plot leans cheesy in places, but the world keeps pulling you forward.
What else should you know?
How does character building work?
You earn experience and skill points from fights and quests, then spend them to specialize. Add equipment and up to nine implant slots, and the same streets play differently: a hacker slips through cameras and turrets, a diplomat finds another sentence, a brawler finds another jaw.
What do you actually do in Cyberspace?
You leave your body behind and run Cyberspace as a shooter-like maze, beating viruses and countermeasures to reach the objective. Success pays off back in the real city, where doors unlock, turrets go quiet or turn, devices overload and data changes hands.
How open is the world?
Harbor Prime is an open 2D city you explore on foot, with main jobs and optional side quests scattered through its districts. Most areas are reachable early, so progress is less about unlocking the map and more about which skills, implants or items let you handle what you find there.
