From ore and timber to finished goods
You control the whole chain. Hire miners and woodcutters, equip their camps, then smelt ore into ingots and turn wood, metal and gems into saleable goods. Complex pieces move through several steps — heating, hammering on the anvil, tempering, assembling parts, sharpening on the grinding wheel — while simpler ones need fewer tools and sell for less.
Staff skills shape what you make well. Some smiths favor metal, others woodwork or gems, others research, and they improve over time. Train generalists who can cover each other, or push a few toward famed specialists and watch the reputation follow.
A workshop that works like a machine
Your shop layout decides how fast anything gets done. Smiths and assistants walk everything between storage and stations, so a tidy floor with short routes beats a sprawling one. Place forges, anvils, workbenches and display space where they help throughput, then add personal touches so the place feels less dreary.
Assistants do the hauling: ore to bins, ingots to smiths, finished goods to shelves. You can also grab a hammer yourself and work the forge directly when you want a break from ledgers. Either way, the quiet pleasure is watching a tangled workshop turn into steady production.
Orders, customers and new designs
Two kinds of money keep you going. Walk-in customers buy what sits on display, from footman swords and woodsman axes to spoons, cauldrons and crowns. Kingdom orders ask for specific goods and unlock privileges when filled, including the ability to design new products.
Research opens more interesting items, which draw bigger crowds and lift your reputation. Grow from one humble room into multiple storeys with better methods, and spend the profits on wages for talented smiths or rest stations that keep distant outposts healthy. Gold solves most problems, except deciding where it goes next.
Good to know before you start?
Do you play it solo?
Yes. You run the forge alone, managing staff, supplies, crafting and sales at your own pace, with no co-op to arrange.
Can you forge items yourself?
Yes. You can take direct control at the forge and work through steps by hand, or leave the whole job to your smiths while you manage hiring, layout and orders.
What do you actually sell?
Historically inspired goods across four groups: military equipment like weapons, shields and armor, kitchen utensils from spoons to cauldrons, tools such as axes and hammers, plus jewelry including rings, bracelets and crowns.
How do you unlock new products?
Fill orders from around the kingdom to earn privileges and capabilities, including designing new products, then research and develop goods that suit your materials and staff skills.
