A story that starts small and grows teeth
Most of Noctuary is reading, and the reading is the point. You follow Fancia Dream and Alina Nightsong, two trainee Arborangers, through lively daily adventures in Inlixaland: missions, conversations, and the slow arrival of a mysterious girl who came down from the sky. The early chapters are gentle, almost sleepy slice of life, and they are doing quiet work, planting details that pay off later. Around the middle the story turns, the world grows stranger, and the plot picks up speed all the way to its several endings. Come for the cozy opening, stay for what it was hiding.
Fighting the Darkritters
Between story scenes you take the two girls into top-down battles against the Darkritters, monsters that constantly threaten illuminators. Fancia and Alina fight differently, so you can beat an enemy your own way: chain combo attacks, dodge barrages, and use the On-field Switch to swap between the two mid-fight, finishing enemies off with the Synergy. Boss fights throw clean, readable bullet patterns at you. If the action ever gets in the way of the story, difficulty options let you tune it down, so the plot never stalls behind a fight.
Side routes, companions and Blessing Petals
The main story runs for tens of hours, and beyond it wait more than 20 side routes and quests, each with its own stories and characters. You take on missions across Inlixaland, team up with a varied cast of illuminators as companions, and cultivate those relationships over time. The friendships you build are not just flavor: the blessings you harvest strengthen you in battle. Combine Blessing Petals, each carrying a different character's traits, to shape your own battle style, and dig into the other cultivation systems along the way.
How long does it take to finish?
Can you play it solo?
Yes, it is a singleplayer game. You control both protagonists yourself, switching between Fancia and Alina in battle, so no second player is ever needed for the combat or the story.
Do choices change the story?
The game has multiple endings, and how you spend your time shapes which ones you can reach: some quests can be missed if you don't take them in time, which affects the ending you get. Side routes also add characters and lore that color how the main story lands.
Is the combat hard?
It has real challenge, especially the boss fights with their bullet patterns, but it is tuned to be fair, and there are difficulty options if you would rather focus on the story. You can also switch between the two protagonists' different fighting styles to find the approach that suits you.
