Read the clues, then load the right gun
You arrive at night with a flickering torch and a rusty gun, and the job is to figure out what lives there. You sweep rooms with an EMF reader, UV light, motion detector and thermal scanner, and log what you find in the Cryptonomicon, your guidebook of creatures and clues. A smart match means silver nitrate rounds where they hurt, a trap where it walks, and a much shorter fight. Guess wrong and the shotgun does a lot more talking.
Pick your contract, meet the locals
Work is a notice board of bad news: ghosts, hellhounds, monstrous spiders, demons. You choose which contract to take, then clear rundown homes, warehouses, haunted forest and junkyard ground, picking off lesser cryptids while you search. Each hunt plays differently because the creature, its clues, and its strengths and weaknesses change. You draw a summoning circle, call the boss out, and settle the bill the direct way.
A broke hunter with a strange brand
You woke up remembering dying the night before, with a fresh brand on your skin you do not remember getting. Now you follow a bloody track through spectral women in the fog and spiders the size of wolves, taking paid jobs to build skills, weapons, armor, medicine and information. The tone stays dark and mysterious, all torchlight, static and things that go bump in the night. The plot is thin and mostly an excuse to become an elite hunter and get revenge.
What else should you know?
Can you play it solo?
Yes. It is a single-player hunt: you, your van full of gear, and whatever is waiting in the house or woods. There is no co-op backup, which suits the careful routine of sweep, note clues, re-equip, then fight.
How does character growth work?
Paid contracts earn money and skill points. Money buys weapons, armor, equipment, medicine, traps, special ammunition and information on opponents. Skill points go into a small skill tree and can be reclaimed and redistributed, so an early build with a nail-gun and torch can grow into a rifle-and-trap specialist.
Is it hard to start?
Yes, deliberately so. Weapons are weak, ammunition is scarce, and lesser creatures can still drag you down while you learn the detectors and the Cryptonomicon. Grind a few early jobs, buy information and better gear, and hunts become fairer without becoming safe.
