Fast slashing, heavy looting
You move fast, hit hard, and pick up a lot of stuff. Foregone mixes side-scrolling combat with looter logic: cut through hordes of Harrow minions with melee and ranged weapons, grab what drops, and equip the stronger legendary piece.
The rhythm stays quick and responsive, with combos, dashes, and special surge attacks to upgrade. Bosses and tougher enemies punish lazy button-mashing, so swapping weapons and tuning your build actually matters. Yes, one of the ranged options is essentially gun-chucks.
Calagan under the Harrow
Years after a devastating war, Calagan is besieged again by the Harrow, a corrupting force that revives the dead and drags up memories better left buried. You play the Arbiter sent to trace it to its source and stop total annihilation.
The story is told through missions, voiceover, and what you find in hand-crafted ruins, labs, forests, and fortresses. It leans melancholy rather than chatty. The look helps: fluid 3D-to-2D pixel art with detailed animation, down to enemies recoiling and slumping when they fall.
What else should you know?
Can you play it solo?
Yes. This is a single-player mission through Calagan, with you alone against the Harrow and its bosses.
How do skills work?
You unlock abilities in a branching skill tree and can customize them to your style, alongside weapon upgrades and surge attacks that help in fights and in reaching hidden areas.
Is there much to explore?
Levels are fairly direct, but hand-crafted environments hide breakable objects, hidden rooms, and upgrades for special moves. Teleporting back lets you revisit areas once you have movement abilities like ground slam and wall climb.
What are the enemies like?
Expect hordes of reanimated minions with different attacks, plus challenging boss fights with clear patterns to learn. Later fights reuse some familiar foes in tougher forms.
