Linda can see ghosts, which is inconvenient when your hometown is full of them. In DreadOut 2 you photograph the intangible ones to banish them and swing whatever melee weapons you find at the solid ones, while filling your Ghostpedia and poking around town day and night.

Phone camera ghost hunting
Your smartphone is your main weapon. You raise it, frame an intangible ghost, and snap to hurt it, with flash timing deciding whether the shot lands. Physical ghosts laugh at photography, so you switch to melee weapons and projectiles you pick up along the way. Bosses like the Kuntilanak and the Gore Surgeon demand steady nerves and better aim. You miss the shot, you take the hit, and the phone suddenly feels very small.
A hometown full of rumors
Linda's town is yours to wander, by day and by night, with residents both alive and dead willing to talk. You take side quests, find hidden stages and mini-bosses, and read notes and environmental clues that point toward something worth finding. Every spirit you track adds another entry to the Ghostpedia on Linda's phone, each one rooted in Indonesian urban legend. The folklore homework has never been this unfriendly.
What should you know before playing?
How do the two combat styles work?
Intangible ghosts are handled with the phone camera: frame them and photograph them to deal damage. Physical ghosts need something heavier, so you fight with melee weapons found during the journey plus projectiles. Some sections take the camera away as an attack and leave you with flash stuns and scavenged weapons only.
What do you actually do in town?
You explore Linda's hometown and the areas beyond it, talk to human and ghost NPCs, take side quests, and look for hidden stages and mini-bosses. Day and night change what is out there. Notes, nooks, and small discoveries feed back into the main urban legends you are trying to solve.
What is the Ghostpedia?
It is the app on Linda's smartphone where you log the spirits you find and the local myths behind them. Hunting every rumor and filling it out is the completionist thread running under the main story, and the entries are drawn from Asian and Indonesian legends.
Do you need to have played the first DreadOut?
This is a direct sequel about Linda after the first game's events, and it answers some of its questions while setting up more. You can follow the new hauntings and town mysteries on their own, but returning fans get more from the lore, the returning villain, and the references.
