A Perfectly Subtle, Totally Normal Synopsis:

About this game:

Congratulations, you poor bastard.

Oh good, you're finally awake — and you've already stumbled into a colossal mess. Impressive, really. The guards are at the door, so, you know, maybe run?

All I can tell you, bro, is this: ahead, there are roughly three paths.

—

"If the world is a prison, would you dare burn it down with me?"

Go throw your lot in with a crew that spends its days plotting night raids. Word is their leader, "Peacock," is a full-blown revolutionary — competent, reliable, and looks absolutely nothing like the chaos he causes. Follow him and people will call you insane, but hey, you might just help pull off something legendary. And you'll live like a king while you're at it.

"I always know that you're afraid of me."

—

"Spare me the ideals. They're hollow. Here, we talk money and power."

Go seek out Pei Wenzhen, master of the Spring Rain Pavilion. This guy — what a character. Filthy rich, generous to a fault, the kind of man who could drop a few silver crumbs and feed a commoner for life. You don't need strength or faith to roll with him — just a functioning brain and a willingness to follow instructions. He'll pour you wine with a smile and invite you to all the finest pleasures. Though what hides behind that smile?

"Hehe, I really gotta cling to life at all costs……"

—

"Is everything you see real? Come to the holy land, and I'll show you true miracles."

Then there's the path to the Holy Land. Go on, child, go to the Holy Land. They say the cult leader has real powers — can make withered trees bloom again. This "Lesser Immortal" of a guru definitely has something going on. He'll keep your heart warm every waking moment. Too warm, actually. So warm you kind of forget whether you've been sleeping or not.

"Mother... please, I want to go home."

—

Oh, a little aside: before you even got here, someone was already digging into you.

And after you arrived? Things started getting... different. Some things seem to exist just for you. Some people stopped being themselves because of you.

Meanwhile, the young emperor on the dragon throne has been watching all of this in silence. She knows everything. She holds everything steady. How far you — or all of you — can go... might not really be up to you. It might be up to her, and when she decides you've gone far enough.

—

So here you are. Three paths, laid out right in front of you. Don't think about turning back — that ship has sailed.

Go on. Pick one, child. Try them all.

Everything you choose will decide which way the wind is rising.

What you're getting into:

Setting: A purely fictional ancient fantasy world — no real history here, we made it all up!

Genre: Wuxia / political intrigue / pseudo-Cthulhu — we've got a little of everything. Which flavor hits hardest? That depends entirely on the choices you make.

Tone: The script might read like a comedy show, but the story itself? It's dark. Like, really dark. Some of those endings will haunt you in ways you didn't sign up for.

Gameplay: Mostly a text-adventure visual novel, with light puzzle elements sprinkled in.

The numbers, because we know you're curious:

400,000+ Chinese characters of script (no idea how many words that is in English — a lot, probably?)

50+ endings — and a single route takes about 8–10 hours on your first run (puzzles slow you down the first time; second time you'll breeze through much faster)

30+ characters to meet, befriend, betray, or get betrayed by

350+ CGs — just for the first main route. We didn't even count properly. Across all three planned routes? Expect that number to break four digits. Honestly, you'll see for yourself when you play.

Mature Content Description:

It's a wuxia political intrigue story, so some fighting and killing is inevitable — but nothing extremely gory or graphic.

One particular character is, shall we say, a bit loose, so technically there's a tiny splash of suggestive content (very, very little). Nothing explicit though. If your parents walk in while you're playing, you probably won't have to panic-exit.

Since this is pseudo-Cthulhu, there's some mildly fantastical horror — but no jumpscares, no flashing lights, no terrifying imagery. It's all the slow-burn, quietly unsettling kind... the stuff that creeps up on you later. (The developer has a weak heart and exercised restraint, so rest assured!)

A quick, slightly embarrassing note to our international friends:

So, uh, I accidentally opened the English mode and now I can't figure out how to turn it off. This English page is basically me winging it — the game itself will launch in Chinese only. An English translation might happen down the road, but no promises yet!

Also, fun fact: this entire production is a one-person disaster show. All the writing, all the art, all the programming, and even most of the music — that's just me, fumbling through it all. So things are chaotic, messy, and I absolutely cannot figure out how to turn off this English settings page. If an English version ever does come out, it'll probably be... late. Very late.

Anyway, thanks for reading this far! Have a laugh at my expense, and if any of this nonsense somehow intrigues you — maybe toss it on your wishlist. Who knows, maybe one day I'll actually deliver an English version.

Screenshots & Translation:

Master Pei: Hey, dear—if I were to hand you a huge, enormous sum of money right now, and told you to go to Xiling Pass and take over an iron mine that's been bleeding money for years... would you take the deal? And while you're at it, do tell your big brother why I'd do such a thing. Surely this isn't too hard for you, hmm?

hao Mingrui: It's too early. Her Majesty's stance is: if it can be settled by talking, try not to let it fall apart. Minister He does things by the book—admirably so, but he's, how to put it... always half a beat behind. By the time Her Majesty's decree reaches the Northern Depot, then gets passed to him, the situation has often already shifted. It's nobody's fault. It's just distance.

Duan Yifei:Haha, I'm not holding back! Before Her Majesty the big sis shows up, you have to—right now, this instant—tell me exactly what that was all about!

Zhuge:Aligning with some and striking at others... in the end, it's all just expedience. The moment you chose to stand against Pei Wenzhen, you unknowingly became the sharpest blade in someone else's hand. The wind and rain ahead... I only hope you can still hold fast to your sword.

"Lone Eagle": ...S-something's wrong with the stuff... Th-they... l-lied to us...

QI Wudu:Take a hike.

He Gu:What Her Majesty wants is a thorough reshaping. If these "wildfires" can burn away the tangled rot rooted deep within the court, then perhaps it's a blessing in disguise. We are... merely the ones holding the torches. The wind's direction and the fire's reach—those are never ours to command.

And one last thing:

My English isn't great, so I've been relying on translation software. This whole page was machine-translated, then I checked it over before publishing. If an English version ever does come out, it'll probably go through the same process — so yes, it might read a bit stiff. You've been warned.
