Build a fighting style from hundreds of moves
You collect martial arts moves and stratagems, then fit them into a personal school: sharp offense, patient defense, poison that wears foes down, or whatever the random events hand you. Training takes limited resources and chances, so you choose between mastering one path or spreading yourself across several. Each adventure reshuffles events, opponents, characters, and treasures, so the same plan rarely plays out twice.
Good to know before you train?
How does a run actually work?
You raise a hero in an ancient martial world full of unknowns. Month by month you spend limited energy and money on training, learning skills, and side work, then face random events where each choice shifts your growth. Combat is turn-based, decided by the moves, stratagems, and talents you brought with you.
What do the random events do?
There are over a hundred of them, and they are the main way a run bends. Some offer training, treasure, or a shortcut to power, others ask you to risk trouble for a reward or walk away. Taking the prize now can leave you thin later, so caution is its own strategy.
Do you keep anything between runs?
Yes. Finishing a run feeds outside growth that carries into the next attempt, so a failed hero still leaves you slightly better prepared. It softens the roguelike sting: you experiment, lose, and start again with more options unlocked.
