Combat with rules worth learning
This is not a flail-your-arms simulator. Enemies telegraph their attacks, and on-screen indicators show you exactly how to block or dodge each one, so every fight comes down to reading the pattern and reacting in time. Shields have to be broken before health damage lands, which turns each duel into a rhythm: crack the guard, strike along the glowing lines, then snap back to defense. The combat is the part players agree on: it is the highlight, and it stays satisfying even after dozens of hours. A dash doubles as an attack, closing the gap and chipping guard in one move. When an attack comes in and your blade meets it at the right angle, it feels earned.
Weapons, upgrades and runs that differ
You fight as the last Rune Knight in Rokar, a land ruined by a Calamity, with a Runesmith forging your arsenal. One-handed blades block fast; heavy two-handed weapons have real weight in your hands and hit harder, and you can even pair two of them for big damage. Each run sends you through randomized rooms toward bosses, with a choice of three upgrades after each stage: extra health, passive abilities, elemental effects. Death is not the end, since earned resources buy permanent weapon upgrades and unlocks for the next attempt. Runs take around half an hour, which makes "one more go" a very real temptation. Three difficulty settings let you pick your pain, and on the higher ones enemies get smarter rather than just tougher.
What should you know before playing?
How long does a run take, and how long does the game last?
A full run takes roughly 30 minutes across three stages, each ending in a boss fight. Beating it once is only the start: permanent upgrades, new weapons and higher difficulties keep runs going. One honest trade-off: the world is limited to its original areas and enemies, so long-term players mostly return for the combat and tougher challenges rather than new places.
Do you need to be good at VR games already?
No. The block and dodge indicators tell you exactly what to do, so beginners can learn by doing, and three difficulty settings scale the pressure. What it asks is physical effort and focus: lose concentration mid-fight and you will lose the fight. Comfort and accessibility options help you tune movement to what your body tolerates.
Can you play it sitting down or solo?
It is a singleplayer game, so no group needed. It is built around physical movement though, so standing with room to swing both arms is how it is meant to be played. Comfort options exist to adjust how you move and battle, which helps if standing sessions wear you out.
