Is Until Dawn™ worth it?
Until Dawn™ is worth it if…
- you want a horror story where your choices genuinely decide who survives
- you enjoy slasher films and want to be the one making the bad decisions
- you like games built for a second playthrough with a very different outcome
- you'd rather watch a tense, well-acted night unfold than master complex controls

Everyone can die, and it's your fault
Eight characters, all playable, all mortal. The Butterfly Effect system tracks your decisions, and a wrong call hours earlier can kill someone in a scene you never saw coming. A missed quick-time event, a snapped branch, a choice to take the shortcut instead of the safe path: any of it can be the difference between a character making it to morning or not. Deaths are permanent, and the story reshapes itself around whoever is left. Getting everyone through the night alive is genuinely hard, which is exactly why a second run is tempting the moment the credits roll.
A horror film you steer
This plays like a slasher movie with your hand on the wheel. Cinematic camera work, motion-captured performances from a cast including Hayden Panettiere and Rami Malek, and a snowy mountain that looks genuinely hostile in its Unreal Engine 5 rebuild. You explore the lodge and its grounds between scenes, picking up totems and clues that hint at what's coming, and the story is split into ten chapters counting down the hours until dawn. Between chapters, a mysterious stranger sits for sessions with a doctor, answering questions about fear. It matters more than it first appears.
