Stellaris A galaxy shaped by your choices

Build an empire among the stars, then steer it through first contact, diplomacy and war as each new run unfolds differently.

Is Stellaris worth it?

Stellaris is worth it if…

  • you like grand strategy games that are fun and rewarding to play
  • you want to design a species and an empire around your own ethics and ideas
  • you want a fresh procedurally generated galaxy to explore every run
  • you enjoy diplomacy and war between large star empires

Build an empire with its own identity

You begin with a young civilization ready to reach for other stars. You shape its species with traits, ideologies, limitations and evolutions, then define the empire itself through ethics, technology, space travel, habitat and philosophy.

From there you negotiate with other empires, form alliances and declare wars. Those choices decide whether your empire is remembered as a pioneer or a conqueror, and the game produces memorable stories through play.

Explore a fresh galaxy, then design for war

Each run takes place in a procedurally generated galaxy with thousands of random planet types, quests and monsters. Your science ships survey anomalies that lead to quests, and each star system may hold a mystery or an alien civilization.

When talks fail, you fight with customizable fleets made of ships designed in the ship designer. You look out on a richly built universe where planets and celestial bodies each have their own elaborate look. The sense of scale is part of the draw.

What else should you know?

Can you play your own way?

Yes. The game is a sandbox with singleplayer and multiplayer, played in real time with pause. You set the pace, manage your growth and choose negotiation or military force as alien neighbors appear.

What do expansions add?

The included Utopia expansion lets you guide how your society evolves, raising vast mega-structures or lifting your people toward a higher plane of existence. The Synthetic Dawn story pack hands you a mechanical empire to lead.

Does it support mods?

Yes, it is moddable, and mods add a lot to the game. That plus procedural generation gives it replay value across many different empires and galaxies.
