A nightmare with a deadline
Every night, Harvey Green dreams the same dream: his own head, mounted on a wall. Then he arrives in Villa Ventana, a quiet port town, and people start dying in ways that look far too much like his visions. Each death brings him closer to the grim conclusion that his nightmare may be a schedule, and he may be the last name on it.
You guide Harvey through the town's peculiar streets, shops and surroundings, talking to residents, gathering clues and trying to stop what is coming. The story mixes shocking twists with absurd humor, so a moment of dread is never far from a dry joke. It is a race against fate, and fate does not seem to be in a hurry to lose.
A town drawn by hand
Villa Ventana looks like a diorama you could reach into: hand-drawn art that combines 2D and 3D into striking, layered scenes, with characters animated against painterly backgrounds. The style gives the whole town a crafted, storybook quality that makes its dark corners feel even darker.
An original, haunting score carries the mood, and a cast of celebrated voice actors gives the town's dozens of strange, memorable characters real presence. Between the visuals, the music and the voice work, Villa Ventana feels like a place with secrets, and the game is in no rush to hand them over. You wander, you listen, and the unease builds on its own.
How hard are the puzzles?
How hard are the puzzles?
On the easier side. Most puzzles are intuitive to solve, and the challenge comes more from exploring the town, talking to characters and piecing the mystery together than from brain-melting logic. If you want a story-led adventure rather than a puzzle gauntlet, that balance suits it well.
Is it actually scary?
It is unsettling more than relentless. The horror comes from the creeping sense of doom around Harvey's nightmare, the strange events in town and a dark, atmospheric mood, with gore and psychological dread rather than constant jump scares. The absurd humor lightens the tone in places, which makes the grim moments land harder.
What about the ending?
Worth knowing before you buy: the ending divides players. Some find the final twist a clever payoff that recontextualizes the whole story, others felt it undercut the mystery they had been following. Either way, the journey through Villa Ventana, the characters and the puzzles are what most people agree the game does well.
