Is Regiments worth it?
Regiments is worth it if…
- you want real-time tactics without the multiplayer ladder, since it is built for solo play
- you would rather command platoons than micromanage every single soldier
- you like the look of Leopard 2s, T-72Ms and Bradleys fighting across 1980s Germany
- you are new to the genre and want a tactics game that teaches itself gently
- you enjoy adapting on the fly when the AI flanks the position you thought was safe

Command platoons, not privates
You are a commanding officer, and the Platoon Command system treats you like one. Orders go to whole platoons, so you spend your attention on the shape of the battle instead of dragging individual riflemen around. A tank platoon holds the ridge, infantry pushes through the treeline, artillery walks its fire across the crossroads. Need more punch? Call in Task Forces mid-battle, each with its own vehicles and off-map support, and build your force as the fight demands. The controls stay smooth even with hundreds of soldiers on the field, and the learning curve is gentle enough that newcomers to tactics games can settle in.
A war told from both sides of the border
The campaign follows several Operations along the Inner German border, told from multiple perspectives as NATO and the Warsaw Pact collide. Each of the nine Operations covers up to days of fighting: tactical battles punctuated by lulls where you manage scarce resources and make operational decisions that shape what comes next. Between fights you choose which battlegroups to reinforce and what to invest in, and those choices carry forward. Skirmish adds four modes with varied, dynamic objectives, so a single evening can hold a full battle without touching the campaign.
