Cursed places and bad company
Each map is its own horror quest with a good ending and a bad one. You search dark houses, tunnels and ritual sites for keys, mirror shards, coal bags and other items, and flip switches in the right order to move forward.
Two kinds of trouble get in the way. Cultists patrol fixed routes and can be outrun, while a faster creature shows up rarely and leaves you one option: hide. You crouch behind furniture, hold still, and hope your friends keep quiet on voice chat.
Built for a loud group of friends
This is a cooperative game first. More players means more enemies on the map, but the trade is worth it, since splitting up to search rooms goes faster and sticking together feels safer when the lights go out.
The scares come from darkness, limited visibility and jump scares rather than complex combat. The story setup is simple on purpose: criminals offered redemption in exchange for exorcism work, sent in with outfits and very little backup. Bring friends who like to scream and then laugh about it.
What should you know before playing?
Can you play it solo?
Yes. The game supports single-player alongside online co-op, and it has been finished solo on every difficulty. Solo runs are slower and demand careful searching, since there is no one to watch doors or split up the objectives. It suits horror beginners on easy, but expect a long hunt through large maps.
How hard is it with two players?
Hard enough to take a week of tries on some maps, especially the subway. The buildings are huge, clues are sparse, and death comes fast when you get lost. Two players can finish it, but plan on dying, learning the layout, and coming back with a better route.
