A first day on the job with no pressure at all
This is a game built for unwinding. There are no time limits, no way to fail, and no fall damage: if you misjudge a jump, you simply pick yourself up and try again. The story moves at whatever speed you want, so you can spend an afternoon chasing a high ledge or just wander the grove saying hello. Gentle music and a bright, hand-crafted forest do the rest. It is the kind of game where the worst thing that can happen is a letter delivered late, and nobody minds.
The critters of Grumblewood Grove
Fifteen characters live in these woods, each with their own story and their own charm. There is a poetic frog, a punk-rock woodpecker and a grumpy squirrel, and they all need your meddling help in one way or another. The dialogue is where the game is at its funniest: the quests are full of silly moments, and the character writing gives even a two-minute errand some personality. Every delivery is a small story, and the forest animals are genuinely glad to see your mushroom hat coming down the path.
Running, jumping and gliding through the trees
Getting the mail there is half the fun. You run and jump across a huge flower field, scale towering trees with the help of mushrooms, and hold a letter out to glide through the air. Earning Mail Scout badges upgrades your gliding ability, which opens up higher places to reach, and the game openly dares you to find the highest spot you can. The movement is light and forgiving, and drifting over the treetops just to take in the view is a pleasure in itself.
A Mail Scout who looks like you
Before your first delivery, you build your Scout from six categories, from skin tone to backpack type, with over 46,000 possible combinations. The mushroom hat is non-negotiable; everything else is yours to decide. On top of that, eight distinct areas are waiting, from a lively woodland village to a murky swamp and a peaceful farm, and hidden trinkets are tucked around the grove for collectors who want to complete the set and earn every badge.
