Free to playIs Deskworm worth it?
Deskworm is worth it if…
- you want a low-key desktop pet that asks for no attention and rewards the typing you were doing anyway
- you like collecting, crafting and slowly growing a small creature over weeks of ordinary computer use
- you spend long hours at a desk and want a friendly nudge to stretch, sit up and drink water
- you enjoy silly, colorful customization, from hippie color schemes to hats of questionable taste

A worm that moves when you do
Every keystroke and click nudges the worm a little further across your screen. Type an email, it crawls. Click through a spreadsheet, it crawls. When it reaches the edge of the screen it simply turns around and keeps going, which is about as much ambition as a desktop worm needs. Typing comes with soft little sounds, so even your keyboard gets a small soundtrack.
Hats, skins and a growing worm
Typing and clicking earn points, and points buy item drops: hats and skins in rarities from common all the way down to a 0.05% legendary. Style your worm cute, silly, stylish or completely cursed. Stuck with duplicates? Combine items of the same rarity to craft one from the next tier up. Or feed spare items straight to the worm, which adds body segments, so it slowly gets longer the more you spoil it. If a drop lands somewhere it blocks your work, you can just drag the worm aside by the head.
A companion that looks after you
This is a pet for people who sit at a computer too long, and it knows it. The Pomodoro timer breaks your day into gentle focus blocks with clear pauses. The Anti-Shrimp reminder nudges you to sit up straight, stand and stretch, so your spine stops curling into its namesake shape. There is a water reminder too, with its own sound settings. None of it pushes or punishes: the worm just quietly suggests you take slightly better care of yourself while it wanders your monitor.
Worms are better in company
One worm wiggling across your desktop is nice. A whole parade of them is better. Host a lobby or join one, public, invite-only or behind a lobby code, and watch everyone's worms crawl around together in real time, up to 250 players in a single lobby. You can see other players' worm cards, invite Steam friends directly, and tuck visiting worms into your pocket or let them roam the screen. More worms, more wiggle, and somehow your spreadsheet gets no more done.
