Is Constance worth it?
Constance is worth it if…
- you want a metroidvania where the movement itself is built around a single clever idea
- you like hand-drawn worlds that look like an animated film and mean something
- you prefer stories that face grief, pressure and mental health head on
- you enjoy exploring a nonlinear map at your own pace, secrets and side quests included

A brush that paints the way forward
Constance fights and moves with a paintbrush, and the paint does more than damage. You can dive into the ground and walls, slice through the air and cut through enemies, all in one flowing motion. The grapple dash in particular feels great to use.
There is a catch: every brush technique corrupts your Paint. Push it too far and negative effects set in, so every dash and special strike is a small decision about how much risk you can afford. Failure is part of the route, not the end of it.
A world that thinks in paint
The inner world Constance tries to escape was created by her declining mental health, and the game takes that seriously. Each colorful biome, with its own enemies and characters, stands for a different part of her psyche and personal history. Playable flashbacks put you in her socks for moments about personal struggle, creativity, work-life balance and inner purpose.
The map is nonlinear and interconnected, packed with secrets, upgrades, characters and side quests. Along the way you gather inspirations and sketch them into a journal: these sketches shape and customize Constance's abilities, and materials you collect upgrade them into stronger artworks. Even your build is something you draw.
