The darkness does not negotiate. It comes in waves — each one bigger, faster and crueler than the last — and the wall of Grimhold is all that stands against it. Place your heroes with purpose, read the battlefield and turn the tide back before it reaches the gate. Ten acts, each with its own horde, its own land and its own bosses, take you from goblin raids in the desert to the far side of the Rift. Every wave you survive brings the next one closer. Every wall you hold is one the darkness has to break again.

From the arcane mage Krash to the ruthless executioner Zylvara, all the way to Malachar himself, Grimhold puts 23 distinct heroes in your hands — each with their own class, abilities, preferred post on the grid and their own epilogue. Unlock them through conquest by beating brutal challenges, then shape them with a tree of 230 skills and 131 relics. No two defenders play alike, and no run demands the same team. The right hero in the right place turns a doomed wall into an unbreakable one.

Heroes are stronger together. With 17 class synergies and 188 upgrade cards, how you build your line matters as much as who stands on it — combine the right champions and watch a modest defense explode into a machine that shreds whole waves before they get close. Between waves, encounters with merchants, pacts and choices come back to collect their price. The darkness adapts. So must you.

Grimhold is a roguelike to the bone: you will lose runs, and that's the point. Every defeat feeds permanent progress that unlocks heroes, relics and mastery. Forge permanent upgrades between attempts, gather essence toward lasting power and return to the wall sharper than before. The siege resets — you don't. Progress is never erased, only earned.
