hack_me

A stripped-down hacker simulator where you break into big-company servers to prove nothing is fully protected. You type in a command line, run bruteforcers and SQL injectors, and work through jobs with your partner Elena feeding you context. Simple, guided, and best taken as a short evening of pretend hacking.

Is hack_me worth it?

hack_me is worth it if…

  • you like slow, guided hacking fantasies with no real stakes
  • you want a short game about breaking into company servers
  • you enjoy desktop interfaces, messages, and movie references

Fake desktops, real-flavoured tools

You sit at a fake desktop, open programs, read messages, and run jobs against company servers. The kit is familiar stuff renamed for safety: command line, bruteforce, SQL injectors, virus writing, and dozens of little hacker utilities to click through.

The loop stays guided. You follow instructions, type what you are told to type, and watch the hack land. One job has you hammering random keys to fill in a virus, which is honest work if your keyboard owes you money. It feels closer to playing at hacking than doing it, which keeps it approachable if you have never touched this genre.

Elena, music, and movie nods

Your partner Elena hangs around to keep the jobs moving, with music and plain 2D computer-screen graphics setting the mood. The game drops references to Mr. Robot and other films and games, so there is usually a wink nearby when the hacking gets repetitive.

Sessions are short. One player finished the core run in about 40 minutes once the steps clicked, and the structure is linear, so you are here for the atmosphere and the checklist, not for open-ended problem solving.

Good to know?

How does the hacking actually work?

You pick tools from a desktop, enter addresses and commands, and run programs like bruteforcers and SQL injectors. The steps are scripted, so success comes from following the job order rather than inventing your own attack.

Who is Elena?

Elena is your in-game partner. She stays in contact during jobs and gives the hacking a bit of company, alongside the music and graphics.

How long does it take to finish?

Short. Once you understand the tools, the mission chain can be cleared quickly, which suits one or two relaxed evenings rather than a long campaign.
