A story told without words
Gris is a hopeful young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a painful experience in her life. There is almost no text here, only simple control reminders shown through universal icons, and no dialogue at all. The story reaches you through what you see: her dress, the world around her, and the way both slowly change as she grows.
The world starts gray and drained. As the story unfolds, Gris grows emotionally and sees her surroundings differently, and color comes back with her. Each shift opens new paths to explore with the abilities her journey has given her. Nothing is explained to you, and nothing needs to be: you follow the world as it changes, and the meaning lands on its own. It is a story about sorrow that ends somewhere hopeful, and it can hit harder than any script would.
Gentle puzzles, no danger
You cannot fail, so there is nothing to be tense about: you move at your own pace through a meticulously designed world, and the game lets you linger in it.
What you actually do is light platforming and simple puzzles, revealed gradually as more of Gris's world becomes accessible. Her dress grants new abilities that change how you navigate her faded reality, and each one opens up places you could not reach before. There are also optional skill-based challenges if you want something a bit more demanding, but they sit quietly off to the side. The puzzles are never hard, just clever enough to keep your hands busy while the art and music do the heavy lifting.
