Draw a path, slay a mountain
You play Jorj, a big swordsman with a family and a mortgage-shaped dream: a vacation. The job is mining grindstones from the Creeps that overrun Grindstone Mountain. The work itself is drawing lines: connect a path through same-colored Creeps, and Jorj carves through them in one swing. Chain ten in a single combo and a grindstone drops, the shiny currency that pays for the trip. Switch colors through gems to keep a chain running, and a long combo turns into a satisfying, cartoonishly gory sweep across the whole board. It is turn-based, so nothing rushes you: take all the time you want to find the perfect path, then watch it pay off.
More than the main climb
The mountain is only the start. Over 600 levels of puzzles and hazards lead up to bosses, with weird and wonderful locations along the way. Long-lost blueprints let you craft new weapons and armor, and there are plenty of consumables and gear choices to shape your own style of play. When the climb gets heavy, there is more to do: a challenging boss-rush mode, a wheel of fortune at a creepy carnival, and three daily modes with leaderboards for proving your prowess. You can even dress Jorj up a bit. All of it is wrapped in a hand-drawn, colorful cartoon look and an award-winning original soundtrack by Sam Webster.
Can you play it in short sessions?
Can you play it in short sessions?
Yes, and it is built for it. The game is turn-based, so you can stop between moves, and each level is a self-contained puzzle. It suits a few levels here and there just as well as a long evening, and daily modes give you a fresh reason to come back.
Is it just another match-3?
It is closer to drawing a route than swapping tiles. You trace a line through same-colored Creeps, and the chain can keep going through gems that let you switch colors. Bigger chains drop grindstones, enemies take their turns and get angry, and bosses demand specific combo targets. The matching is the surface; the pathfinding is the game.
How long is the game?
Long. There are over 600 levels on the way up the mountain, plus bosses, side content, a boss-rush mode, a carnival wheel, and three daily modes. One catch worth knowing: the core puzzle stays much the same from start to finish, so it rewards people who like the loop itself more than people chasing constant change.
Is there a story?
Only a light one. The setup is that Jorj mines grindstones to save up for a family vacation, and the tone is dark comedy with cartoon gore. The puzzles, the gear and the bosses carry the game, not the plot.
