Is Denizen worth it?
Denizen is worth it if…
- you want a life sim with no timers, no fail state and no story rushing you along
- you like making your own routine: work, groceries, cooking, then a night out if you feel like it
- you enjoy decorating a home and picking out your own car
- you are fine with a smaller city while it grows in early access

A day in Cedar Shores
The shape of a day is yours. Work a shift at the pizza place or behind a bar, run a delivery, then head home to unload groceries and cook dinner. Shower, eat, sleep, and maybe invite a friend over or go out for a drink at the club. There is no pressure to do any of it in order: max out one job and you work only when you feel like it. A survival layer keeps your character fed, hydrated and rested without ever getting in the way, and weather rolls through the city, from sunny days to rain, fog and thunderstorms. It is a game about ordinary routines that you choose yourself, and it plays out differently every time.
Building a life, not just a save file
Money turns into a life. Pick a residence, from a suburban house to a city apartment, then decorate it with your own furniture and finishes. Buy a car at the dealership and learn the roads, because places are closer than they look and taxis will never teach you the map. Beyond the day job there are bigger moves: open your own business, buy property and rent it out, or try the shadier side of town with underground ventures. Keep an eye on the gas gauge, though. There are only two gas stations, and the roads between them are long ones you do not want to walk.
Can you play it at your own pace?
Can you play it at your own pace?
Yes, and that is the point. Nothing in Cedar Shores is on a timer and there is no way to lose. Once you level up a job you can work shifts only when you want the money, spend whole evenings fishing or cooking, or ignore all of it and go driving. The game never tells you what your day should look like.
How much is there to do right now?
The core loop is solid: a handful of jobs with their own mini-games, property and businesses to buy, cooking, fishing, driving and nightlife. It is in early access and the city is on the smaller side, so players who rush through everything will run out of new things sooner than slow, routine-loving ones.
Is there character customization?
There is. You build your character at the start, and the options keep coming after that: new hairstyles, new clothes, even cosmetic surgery once you are in the game. Your wardrobe and your ride are both part of the life you put together.
Do you have to manage hunger and sleep?
Yes, but gently. Your character eats, drinks, showers, sleeps and uses the restroom, and none of it is overbearing. It is there to give the daily routine a rhythm, not to punish you for skipping a meal.
