$2.99Dead Pixels
Toxic waste in the water supply has raised the dead, and your only way out is through them. Dead Pixels is a retro side-scrolling zombie shooter about blasting across a city that rebuilds itself every run, looting houses and stores and trading with survivors for better guns.
Is Dead Pixels worth it?
Dead Pixels is worth it if…
- you like fast retro side-scrolling shooting with lots of guns to try
- you like short runs where the city, loot and fights change each time
- you want local co-op zombie survival for two on one couch
- you like putting cash into stats, medkits and better weapons between fights

Blast across a city that never repeats
You move street by street toward rescue, pushing through hordes with shotguns, rifles, machine guns, rare specials, grenades and things like flamethrowers and chainsaws. You duck into houses, shops and a church to loot supplies, spend zombie-dropped cash with surviving traders, and put money into health, carrying strength and weapon damage.
The city is procedurally generated, so the route, loot and trouble around the corner change each time. Zombie types change too, from shambling basics to spitters, bruisers, rushers and bosses. The pixel art is plainly retro and the pace stays quick, with harder modes and difficulties waiting once the normal escape feels manageable.
Loot, trade and build a better survivor
Dead Pixels mixes shooting with light RPG upkeep. You collect over 100 weapons, grenades and items, then decide what to carry, what to spend and which stats to raise. You drop cash on medkits, stronger guns or extra toughness before the next block, which matters when ammo runs thin and the crowd gets thick.
There are three modes of play and four difficulty settings, plus local two-player co-op and online leaderboards for comparing escapes. The variety of guns and items is a highlight, and the soundtrack keeps the run moving. Death ends the run, so each trip is about stretching supplies a little further than last time.
What should you know before playing?
Can you play it solo?
Yes. Single player is the core way through, with four difficulty settings to tune the pressure. Local two-player co-op is there when someone wants to share the couch and the ammo.
How does a run work?
You fight block by block toward rescue while the generated city shuffles streets, buildings and supplies. You search houses and stores, trade with survivors, upgrade stats like health and damage, and keep moving before zombies box you in.
What weapons and zombies will you meet?
Over 100 weapons, grenades and items, from pistols and shotguns to rifles, machine guns, flamethrowers, a Tesla gun and a freeze gun. Against them: standard zombies plus acidic spitters, tougher bruisers, fast rushers and dangerous bosses.
How many modes are there?
Three modes of play, with harder options including The Solution and Last Stand for players who have finished the normal escape and want steeper odds.
