Free to playDarwin Project
Ten inmates in orange jumpsuits drop into a frozen arena in the Canadian Rockies to outlast the cold and each other. Track footprints in the snow, chop wood, craft gear, and talk your way out of trouble while a Show Director drops zone closures and gravity storms for the crowd. It is a lean, scrappy battle royale that rewards cunning as much as aim.
Is Darwin Project worth it?
Darwin Project is worth it if…
- you like small battle royales where tracking and crafting matter as much as shooting
- you enjoy mind games, bluffing and making temporary allies
- you want short, replayable matches with a comic look and a game-show mood
- you like playing host and messing with friends as a Show Director

Cold, axes and mind games
You spawn with an axe and a bow and not much else. You chop trees and loot for wood and leather, craft arrows and tools, upgrade your gear, and keep moving so the cold does not finish what other inmates started.
Fights are small and personal, ten players at most, and tracking matters. You follow footprints through the snow, read a cut tree or a cold campfire, and decide when to swing and when to hide in a bush. Talking helps too, since deals and bluffs are part of survival here.
A host who can ruin your day
Every match has a Show Director, a player host who watches and meddles. They can close zones, call down nuclear blasts, trigger gravity storms, or hand out speed boosts and heals, and they talk straight to the arena while they do it.
Viewers get a say as well. Spectators vote on the target of a Director power, bet on who survives, and in private matches can bid to unleash Director powers themselves. A good Director keeps the match tense and fair. A bored one might just nuke you for the laughs.
What else should you know?
Can you play it with friends?
Yes. You can queue into public matches, set up private matches with your own group, and take turns as Director. Private matches also let spectators bid for Director powers, which makes a full lobby of friends suitably chaotic.
What do you actually craft?
Arrows, traps, warm clothes and upgrades from wood, leather and electronics found around the arena. Electronics power the stronger effects, like invisibility and teleportation, so a lucky find can turn a fight.
Does the cold really matter?
Yes. The arena is built around an oncoming Ice Age, and staying warm is a constant chore. You gather resources for fires and warmer gear, and getting caught out in a blizzard with no wood is a slow way to lose.
