Is Cryptmaster worth it?
Cryptmaster is worth it if…
- you like word games, riddles and typing as a core mechanic, not a gimmick
- you want a dungeon crawler that is genuinely funny and refuses to take itself seriously
- you enjoy puzzles that sometimes send you hunting for a word you barely know
- you can play in English at a strong level, since the riddles lean on wordplay and rare vocabulary

Say anything, and the world answers
Everything in Cryptmaster runs on words. You type what your party does: attacks in combat, answers to riddles, the thing you poke in a dark room. The Cryptmaster reacts to what you write, and he has a lot to say about most of it. Fights work like a macabre game of hangman: guess letters to uncover the names of your skills, then type them at the right moment. Choose turn-based play if you like to think, or a real-time mode where you type fast and hope the healer's word comes to you before it's too late. One currency, souls, pays for both your shopping and your strongest moves, so every fight and every purchase pulls on the same purse.
A long climb out of the grave
Four heroes once died saving the world. Now a necromancer has yanked them out of rest and sent them up through the buried layers of a city: the gloomy Bonehouses, the Sunken Sea, the freakish Downwood. Along the way you recover the party's lost memories, which turn out to be sillier and more questionable than anyone would like to admit. The whole thing is drawn in a stark, hand-inked black and white that suits the deadpan British humour perfectly, and the voice acting leans into every hammy line.
