One day, while tracing old folklore, I heard an intriguing rumor.
“On the outskirts of the Higashiyama region, in the village of Mikagura, there is said to be a shrine maiden possessed by an evil spirit.”
It sounded like a ridiculous story, but I decided to go to the village to find out if it was true.
Mikagura Village—
A remote mountain village not even properly marked on maps.
Cell phone signals were intermittent, and the village was shrouded in a silence that felt as though time had stopped.
Without any guidance, I arrived at a dilapidated shrine on the outskirts of the village.
Deep within the shrine, which had not been maintained for years, beyond a door sealed shut like a seal—
I encountered a shrine maiden.
