Bleak story-driven adventure games

If you like slow, unsettling adventures that focus on mood and meaning, the work of Jesse Makkonen will feel familiar. DISTRAINT: Deluxe Edition and DISTRAINT 2 follow Price through guilt-driven side-scrolling exploration with light puzzles and conversation, while Heal guides an elderly figure through muted point-and-click challenges. Across all six titles you wander dim spaces, piece together fragmented stories, and sit with themes of loss, hope, and responsibility.
